My world is flat”s”

Everyone knows the world is round but a few years ago I made a change in my life and it became mostly flat, as in ballet flats.  I hope the fact that I’m male and these shoes are marketed for females doesn’t offend anyone.  I’m sorry if it does.   I’ve always admired the look of ballet flats on women and often thought I’d like to adopt the same look for myself in a unisex way.  In 1999 I bought my first pair of flats but was too nervous and embarrassed to wear them in public.  Several years later a supportive friend suggested it’s OK to wear what I want.  She too was a fan of ballet flats and we would go out wearing our flats together.  I still remember the first time I saw a women wearing a pair of the iconic Tory Burch Reva flats.  I thought to myself, “someday I’ll have a pair of those.”  Living in Canada there were very few places that sold the Tory Burch brand and so for years I could only dream about owning a pair.  During a Winter vacation in November 2011 in Scottsdale, Arizona I stopped by the Scottsdale Fashion Plaza (Now renamed to the Scottsdale Fashion Centre)  I stopped by places like Saks, Neimum Marcus, and Nordstroms.  They all carried the Tory Burch flats I wanted.  Centered between all these stores was a Tory Burch boutique.  I nervously walked in, looked around and asked if they had the black patent Revas in a size 10.  I think the sale associate  sensed they were for me, so when she came out with the box she asked if I’d like to try them on.  Wheew!  What a relief.  Sadly they were way to small.  After about 40 minutes and trying on several pairs I had my first pair of Tory flats. I still remember what my amazing sales associate said when I was paying for my Tory flats. I was VERY nervous but I thanked her for making me feel so comfortable while buying myself my first pair of Tory flats.  She replied, “at Tory Burch we think EVERYONE should be able to enjoy our great flats.”  And enjoy them I have. This is my first real post and I’m quite new at this so please bare with me.  I have read lots of awesome blogs and I felt it’s time to start sharing some of my thoughts and my always growing collection of Tory Burch flats.  In November 2011 I bought my first pair and today my collection includes the iconic Tory Burch Reva flats, the super comfy Tory Burch Eddie flats, some throw on and wear anywhere Tory Burch Caroline flats, a small collection of Tory Burch Miller sandals and a few others. Welcome to my world and my Tory Burch flats Tory Burch Reva flats collection

Welcome to blogging! Sorry it took me a month to find you 🙂 I love your taste in flats and how you pair them with your outfits and I’m looking forward to seeing more posts. I love ballet flats too and I think everyone should wear them. After all, our fashion flats are modelled after dance shoes and dancing is for everyone!

Thanks for your kind words, they’ve got me doing the happy dance. 🙂 Blogging can be a lot of work. So far it has made me realize and appreciate all the hard work that is required to have a great blog. Yours comes to mind. I do feel inspired to start doing some more posts showcasing my ballet flats and showing that they really are “for everyone.”

Thanks for the comments. I still can’t believe it myself some days that my collection has gotten so big. After getting the classic black Revas it was just a matter of time before I started adding some fun colours. Glad you liked my story. I was pretty nervous about wearing them in public but I felt I had to be true to my feelings. I know there are a lot of other men that wish they could wear there flats or any article of women’s clothing openly in public.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope to add more posts soon.

i am also into wearing flats and collecting them, my favorites are the tory revas also but do have a few other styles, my collection of revas has grown pretty big also and any tome i can find colors i don’t have on ebay for a decent price i will get them depending on the condition, i do have a straw pair without the elastic on back and they fit great but i do prefer the elastic backs and they don’t seem to be making that many colors in 12 now with out the elastic backbit i can do certain ones in 11 with it so i don’t know if i will be able to fit them with out it,and i am not really bug on flip flops but love the tory styles, do you wear those?

Hi David, thanks for stopping by. It’s nice to hear from like minded people regardless of gender. I’ve always felt it’s better to be true to your feeling and do what makes you happy rather than hide your feeling and being miserable.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about Tory flats.

Hi Clara, thanks for stopping by and sharing your kind words about my collection. I think I can picture which Carolines you are talking about. If they are the same ones as I’m thinking about I almost bought a pair. Surprisingly I don’t own any suede flats but I bet a suede brush would work on them. I’d be hesitant to use water. You should be able to Goggle “suede brush” and see if that’s something that looks like it might work. Please let me know and feel free to stop by anytime. I’m presently working on a Black Friday Tory Burch post.

Beautiful, beautiful collection! If you ever need leather cleaner, I recommend Kate Spade’s. It’s about $10 USD and worth it. I think it’s eligible for promos. I agree about using a suede brush and no water. Suede brushes are awesome. Looking forward to your BF post 🙂

Thanks for popping in Gigi. Thanks for recommending a leather cleaner as well. I do try very hard to keep all my flats clean but there are times they get a bit dirty so I’ll certainly try the KS cleaner.

The Black Friday post will hopefully be posted before Black Friday is even here.

I love your subject title and opening sentence! LOL Ballet flats are unisex. I think it’s great that you have such a colourful collection, instead of just boring black and brown shoes. If I were a guy, this is what I’d be wearing too!

Oh Carmen, your supportive words have made my day. In this day and age of fashion many things are becoming more unisex, flats included. Of course it’s still takes the right kind of person to actually wear them.

      You’re so kind.

First of all, I commend you for being brave and taking the plunge into wearing what makes you happy. I know that was especially hard for you due to our “I am offended by every little thing” society, but you know what? We have one life and we really should not care what anyone thinks.

I just found your blog by googling Tory Burch Lowell boots and your pictures came up. I have to say I love the way you style all your Tory products! Continue doing what you love and wear that Tory Burch! (Oh and I’m soooo jealous of your collection!)

Hi Linda. Glad you found my blog threw your google search but more important, THANKS for you kind words. It was hard to step out and wear my “women’s’ Tory flats. But your are 100% correct, wearing Tory flats makes me happy and after being kind to others, need to be kind to myself. My Tory’s make me feel good. This is my 4th year at openly sharing my Tory Burch love.

    Hi Bri,
I don’t know how could I pass this wonderful blog of you ! I love your huge and beautiful collection of Tory Burch flats and sandals, you have really good taste for shoe and I am really happy that you wear what makes you happy and comfortable, no matter that they are so called “women” shoes, shoes are genderless. I am also happy that the TB sales associates in general are really kind, supportive and friendly, I also had nice experiences with them at their Vancouver location even ordering some flats by phone.

I love the range of colors of and shapes of all your shoes and you look awesome in all of them. Keep posting more of your new addition to your awesome collection !!

    Have a good day !!
