2016 TB Minnie flats update

Here we are in the 5th month of 2016!  Where did the time go?  After a seemingly nonexistent Winter in Calgary and a warm Spring spent mostly in Arizona for a total of 5 weeks in March and then again in April, we are also experiencing a warmer than normal Spring in Calgary.  But I’m sure you’re not here for a weather recap of the first 5 months of 2016.  Lets move onto something more fun my friends.  That being my 2016 TB Minnie travel flats collection update.

2016  started off very slow in the flats department.  My first pair wasn’t purchased till March 3rd while on vacation in Arizona.  I tried these Shiraz coloured Minnie’s on last November at the TB Boutique in Scottsdale but passed on them at the time.  There was no way I was going to pass on them this trip.  YAY!  My first pair of Tory’s for 2016.

My next pair you’ve already seen in my last post.  They are the pearlized gold Minnie’s I bought during the first week of my April Arizona vacation.  Again from TB Scottsdale.

Next was a pair I’d had my eye on since I first saw them on the TB website in 2015.  They were the patent Olive coloured Minnie’ s.  These were an on-line item only and never in the TB boutiques.  I was worried the colour might be slightly different  than the picture on the website but had my TB SA order them any ways.  The Olive colour itself is either one you’ll go “ohhh lovely”  or go “OMG I wanna puke!”  When I went to the boutique to pick them up I was happy!  The colour match the website picture perfect.

Feeling my allowable Tory budget for this trip still had plenty room for another pair I looked at a couple other colours that caught my eye.  I liked the patent Emerald green and the patent Chicory blue.  While trying the Chicory blue (baby blue) ones on I looked down at them on my feet then looked to my TB SA and said.  OMG are these ever bright.  I slid the blue one off and tried on the Emerald green.  Sold!

The more I convince myself the Chicory blue ones weren’t a good colour for me, the more I wanted them.  Trying the baby blue coloured Minnie’s on in the boutique had the same feel as wearing pink flats or bright yellow flats.  They scream feminine.  As you likely know I have both a pink pair and a yellow pair of Tory’s.  I guess I can scream away in a blue pair also.

To increase the “fab” factor I paired them with white pants.

    Hi Bri,

I love your TB minnie travels flats collection, as a fan of flats, it’s a heaven watching all your collection !
all of them are really cute and if you add the comfort of slippers these flats are a must in any wardrobe. It is hard for me to decide which of your new flats is my favorite, I love the Olive color and the chicory shade, they are super original and beautiful and honestly as one of my SA told me :”you must love the shoes that you will wear, regarding also how comfortable they are , no matter if they are flats, ladies sandals, heels or mules, if you feel happy wearing cute flats people will see your happiness not your footwear “. I think this phrase applies really well to you my friend, you always look happy in all your pics and you know how to match your men clothes with flats.

I recently purchase the snake print travel flats at theTB Milton outlet at 40% off so I saved money while getting good quality nice flats. I will post soon how I wear them.
Thanks for sharing that awesome flats collection with us.

    Your friend

      Hi Ivan.

THANKS for stopping by and commenting. It’s always great to hear from another ballet flats fan.

I like what your TB sales associate said to you about the shoes you wear. ” If you feel happy wearing cute flats people will see your happiness not your footwear.“ This is so true. Of course it’s also nice when people notice and compliment me on the cute flats I’m wearing. One of the nicest compliments I every received was from my TB sales associate the day I bought my first pair of Revas. Not only did she calm my nervousness with her kindness but she also said, “at Tory Burch we think “everyone” should be able to wear our great flats and these look great on you.” The pair she was referring to were these black patent Reva flats.

They were just the words I need to hear to confirm my love for the Tory Burch brand.

Can’t wait to see your post on your new snake print Minnie’s. Are these the ones you bought?

      Have a great day Ivan.

    Hi Bri,
I bought same pair as you we are again TB Twins ! and it was the store manager that told me that true and cool phrase from my town, she is a stunning young blonde that loves flats and sandals as much as I love them along with her sales associate a tall cute brunette, and by coincidence the three we wear same shoe size.

When I went there , I was wearing my TB oxblood flats (the ones without the big logo in the toe area) and she remarked how cute and comfty they looked. She was wearing a pair of MK dixie flats, when looking for jeans and sandals at her store I asked if that MK flats were comfy cause I loved how they look, she told me : ” I guess we wear same shoe size, do you wanna try them?”, I said: ” sure they look cute and comfy” then she slipped them off and I take off my TB flats.

I wore her flats during my shopping at her store and she wore my flats for a while until her tall SA asked her to try them, the tall brunette virtually threw away her backless flats and slip on my flats, she told me that I have great taste for flats and asked me the brand and where she can get a pair. It was a real cool experience, we chat a lot about shoes, and the close mind that some people has when someone choose to wear outfits supposed to be worn by the other gender.

They helped me to choose the right jeans and sandals and gave me her opinion how they looked on me; and maybe next time I will get a peep toe flats that fit me like a glove. Ladies like them or like Carmen, Kathy, Jean and my TB SA associates at Sherways and Vancouver, all of them make the difference when helping other people to feel reassured and happy.

      Hi Ivan.

Great to hear you have a great relationship with your sales associates. I know exactly how you feel. I have amazing SA’s as well. I also have amazing friends I’ve gotten to know thru blogging. Kindness and honesty are two things that can make a friendship blossom. That combined with a non judgmental attitude and it’s easy to share our passion for shoes with like minded friends.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day.

Well, hello my Tory Twins!! You two have an impressive collection of flats!!

Bri, those blue minnies are eye-candy, they look so summery, especially with the white pants (Ivan, I can see you in these with white capris). However, my opinion is a little different than yours (hope you don’t mind). I don’t see colours as masculine or feminine. Male flamingos are PINK (just as pink as their female friends). Blue is not just for boys and any shade of blue is for anyone who likes it.

We girls/ladies can wear any colour from navy blue and forest green to pastels of baby blue and bubblegum pink. My oldest son’s favourite colour as a child was pink. He picked out a pink striped shirt at age 5, happily wore it until the kids laughed and said it’s a girl’s colour. I told him that boy flamingos are pink and that colours are for everyone.

        Flats are fun!

    Hi Carmen.

Hope you are having a nice Victoria Day long weekend. On behalf of Ivan and myself, ( the Tory twins ) thanks for your kind words and comments. I like your “eye candy” comment about my new blue flats, they are a very Summery colour. I too think Ivan would look great in a pair with white capris.

I appreciate your thoughts about colours not being either masculine or feminine or strictly for boys or girls. You’re 100% correct, if you like a colour then wear it, just like your oldest son did years ago. Your timing with these thoughts is perfect because I mentioned to my TB sales associate there’s a pair of pink Tory’s that have caught my eye. She’s currently searching for my size. I’m not going to say anymore about the pink pair I’m looking at but they are much different than these magenta pink patent Tory Burch Eddie flats of mine.

Thanks Carmen, yes flats are fun.

Oh Carmen, I do value your opinion, thanks. This magenta pair is pretty “flashy” and they do “pop.” If my TB SA does find my size in the pink pair I’m hoping for they won’t be anywhere near as flashy. They’re a more subdue colour of pink.

Hope your weekend was great 🙂

Flashy is good; subdued is good. All depends on what mood you’re in and how you want to express yourself that day. 🙂

We had a fun weekend. What about you?
        Have a great week! ❤

      Hi Carmen and Bri,

I totally agree with Carmen, colors, clothes, shoes and things in general don’t have gender. It’s people and according its culture and customs, they assign gender to everything. In India for example, men and women wear almost same kind of flats and nobody cares. And by the way my friends I am in the hunt for a pair of white slim capris to match them with my blue minnie travel flats or the snake print flats or maybe a pink pair of flats !

By the way as you know I do ballet and one year my teacher invited me to take pointe class. I wore pink pointe shoes and nobody cared, the ladies there and myself, we were too concentrated in the class and sharing our pain that nobody has time to said something about the color of my dance shoes. Pointe class is as hard as a box class or harder, imagine all your body weight supported on a surface of similar to the face of a 25 cents !!

And definitely flats are fun and sooo comfty, that I only take them off for sleeping 😉

      Have a nice day!

Carmen is 100% correct Ivan and I agree with her. I think we all could picture you in a pair of white capris. I hope you and your friends find the perfect pair for you to wear with your blue flats. Of course white capris would also pair very well with a pink flats. Just sayin’ 🙂

White slim capris will look amazing on you Ivan! My brother had a pair and looked cool and summery. They’ll go with any colour flats, which are perfect for capris. Clodhopper shoes do not look good with capris or shorts. My opinion is that shorts and capris need flats or sandals. 🙂

So true Carmen, how someone dresses completely depends on the persons mood. Anything from Flashy, Flirty, Fabulous, Feminine, Fun or just subdued 🙂 I’m sure there’s more words starting with “F” that could describe someone’s mood of the day, haha

You have a great week too 🙂

    Hello,
I stumbled across your blog while searching for reviews of the Minnie flat. I just bought my first pair. Woohoo! I got them in the Emerald green patent (LOVE), but I’m having a bit of a dilemma. I normally wear size 8 shoes. In Tory, I vary between 8 -8.5. For the patent Minnies, the 8.5 feels more comfortable because it is looser, but the sides gap while I walk. The size 8s are comfortable everywhere except the front toe box- my big toe keeps hitting the front of the shoe. I read reviews where others commented that the toe box was narrow, but that it did stretch out. What is your experience with the patent leather pair? I am hesitant to think that patent leather will stretch very much and do not want to end up keeping a pair that will cause discomfort. Thanks!

      Hi Amy.

Congrats on your new patent Emerald green TB Minnie’s, we’re twins! The emerald green Minnie’s are an amazing color so you want them to be 100% comfy so you will wear them often. Although Tory flats are wonderful, the sizing can be difficult. I’m between a 10, 10.5 or 11 depending on the style. In the Minnie’s 10.5 fits best length and width wise. If your toe is hitting the front of the shoe in the 8’s, I’d say go with the 8.5’s Tory flats will sometime stretch in width but not in length. I know you mentioned the 8.5’s gaps at the sides. I have a few pairs of size 11 Minnie’s that gap on the sides as well but as the day goes on our feet do swell and this gapping will be less. Did you feel the gapping was in the morning or later in the day? I guess I’m a lucky guy cuz my patent Minnie’s fit the best. I haven’t notice that they stretched width wise very much. I’d recommend sticking with the 8.5’s.

Amy, Thanks for stopping by and asking for my opinion. Please keep me updated as to how you make out.

      Have a great day.

Hi Tiffany, great to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your kind words. Even I’m surprised how quickly my collection of the TB Minnie’s formed. The pearlized gold ones really do stand out. My amazing Tory Burch sales associate suggested I try them and I instantly loved them.

I will certainly be sharing more posts and pictures in the coming weeks.

Hi Lorna, thanks for stopping by. I know! It’s crazy how long it took to buy my first pair of Tory’s in 2016. After that Arizona mini haul I have made 2 more purchases from my local boutique. Whewww, looks like I’m back on track in 2016.

You seem to be an expert on the TB Minnie flats and I’m thinking about buying a pair, so I thought I’d ask you a question! I’m interested in one of the matte pairs (light oak, I think), but a lot of the reviews on the Tory Burch website say that they scuff easily/the color comes off in places. What has been your experience with that style? Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi Priya, thanks for stopping by and sharing your kind words. There are lots of women I know that are Tory Burch experts and I don’t even come close to their knowledge of the TB brand. But I’d like to think I’m one of Tory Burch’s best male clients when it comes to the size of my collection of her amazing flats and the knowledge I have about them. 🙂 I’m glad you stopped by with your question about the light oak colour, it is one colour I don’t have in my collection (yet.)

The TB Minnie’s are available in 3 types of finishes of leather, matte, patent and metallic. Of these 3 finishes the matte is the softest leather and therefore it will scuff easier than the others. I found that out very quickly with my first pair but it was because of my own clumsiness.
I wasn’t paying attention and walked into a piece of furniture at the mall and left a visible scuff on my cute new Laguna blue Minnie’s. Once I was aware I was more careful. So the reviews on the TB website are kind of true but most damage is likely caused by not being careful or clumsiness of the wearer. No leather is 100% scuff proof. As for the colour coming off or fading, I’ve never had any problems with that.

I hope this helps with your decision. Please keep me posted

      Have a great day.

      Bri
